The latest report from the Environmental Protection Agency, shows that the water quality at 103 of the145 designated bathing waters around Ireland, including 6 here in Wicklow are classified as ‘excellent.
Bray South promenade, Greystones, Silver Strand as well as Brittas Bay north and South Beach and Clogga are described as top quality.
However five well-known bathing places have poor-quality water.
Three of those are in Dublin - Sandymount Strand, Merrion Strand and Portrane Beach.
The other two are Lilliput in County Westmeath and Clifden in County Galway.
