Mountain Rescue Teams report Increase in call-outs this year
It has been a busy year for Dublin-Wicklow Mountain Rescue this year, who have responded to 64 call-outs so far in 2024. Dublin-Wicklow Mountain Rescue recently reported a considerable spike in call-outs in 2024, currently standing at 64 call-outs this year alone.64 call-outs would have been the average total for an entire year previously, but they are now averaging at around 100+ call-outs per year.The mountain rescue team, who just recently celebrated their 40-year anniversary, have responded to incidents ranging from lost hikers to injured climbers in recent weeks and throughout the year.A spokesperson for the DWMR has said that the considerable increase in call-outs has highlighted the need for their professional services, and that their volunteers are ready to respond to call-outs 24/7, 365 days a year.
