
A local councillor has called on Irish Water to consider the upgrade of water supplies in Dunlavin as a matter of urgency.
Avril Cronin says the current capacity from the existing wells is unsustainable and does not meet demand, in particular during drought conditions.
In response to a recent query the public utility outlined extensive ground investigation works that have taken place to address the issue.
A number of trial boreholes have produced very limited additional water supplies with officials now looking at alternative solutions.
