Status Orange Snow And Ice Warning Issued For Wicklow

Met Éireann has issued Status Orange low temperature and ice warnings for 25 counties

The first Status Orange warning will come into effect for 22 counties from 8pm tonight. It will include all counties in Munster and Connacht as well as counties Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wicklow, Cavan and Monaghan.

Met Éireann has said extremely cold and widespread severe frost, ice and lying snow could lead to dangerous travelling conditions on roads and underfoot, travel disruption and delays and animal welfare issues in these areas.

It will remain in effect until 10am on Wednesday.

A second Status Orange warning for all counties with the exception of Donegal will come into effect at 6pm on Wednesday evening and will remain in place until 11am on Thursday.

A nationwide Status Yellow Low Temperature and Ice warning is currently in place and will be in effect until 6am on Friday morning.
