Wicklow Municipal District Councillors have voted in favour of two Part 8s which will result in the construction of 75 social homes in Wicklow town and Ashford.
Phase two of the Hawkstown development in Wicklow town will consist of 56 houses, while a further 19 houses are planned for Ballinahinch in Ashford. The elected members were asked to vote for both Part 8s at Monday’s monthly meeting of Wicklow Municipal District which was te final meeting to take place before the upcoming local elections. The development at Ballinahinch will consist of two one-bed houses, 15 two-bed houses and two three-bed properties. As there is an existing estate with family homes, it was felt it wouldn’t be appropriate to construct too many one-beds at Ballinahinch so the houses mirror the existing design on site. All the homes will be A-rated and won’t have chimneys. The one-bed houses are wheelchair accessible and have wheelchair friendly bathrooms. That particular Part 8 is ready to go out for public consultation this week. The Hawkstown Phase two development consists of 56 social houses, including a singe one-bed Age Friendly property, nine one-bed ground floor units, nine one-bed first floor properties, 20 two-bed two-storey houses and 16 three-ned two-storey houses. The area is zoned residential and the houses will al be designed around a green area.
