Land and an access road to one of the country’s most scenic beaches located here in Wicklow has sold in an online auction today.
The 20 acres of clifftop land overlooking the beach at Magheramore sold for €700,000, more than three times the asking price of €210,000..
The beach which is located between Blainroe and Brittas Bay is widely considered one of the best places for surfing on the east coast
According to the Irish Times, a spokeswoman for the Wicklow County Council confirmed it bid for the land and access route but was unsuccessful. However the identity of the successful bidder is not known at this stage.
Bidding opened at 8 o’clock this morning with five bidders involved but this fell to just two after bids exceeded €550,000.
