Wicklow Green Councillor Lourda Scott has said there is finally “some light at the end of the tunnel” for the residents of Archers Wood, in Delgany, after Cairn Homes has now lodged plans for the community building.
In May this year, Cllr Scott lodged an enforcement complaint to push Wicklow County Council into honouring its obligations to provide a community building after it had dropped the facility from the original 2019 plans.
It followed a ruling by An Bord Pleanála (ABP), in July 2023, that Cairn Homes must provide an amenity building following the appeal by Cllr Scott to the decision by Wicklow County Council to permit the facility to be dropped.
"Its welcome news that Cairn are finally looking to deliver a long-promised amenity building in Archers Wood,” Cllr Scott said, in response to the application lodged by the developer on Friday, December 6.
On examining the plans however, I am surprised that the application is looking to reduce the proposed size of the building by 100msq.
The original planning permission was granted to provide a two-storey amenity building of 325msq, but the current application is for a single story building of 206sqm. Building space is at a premium in the area so I am pleased that this project is now progressing,” she concluded.
