Planning has been refused to extend the Blessington Greenway.
The project would have seen a shared path for cyclists and pedestrians running for over 30 kilometres around the villages of Ballyknockan, Valleymount and Lacken.
The inspector report outlines concerns raised by the Board, with a focus on the water quality of the local reservoir, alongside the drinking-water quality in the river.
Permission was also denied due to a lack of information on the environmental impact, with a focus on the conservation of native bird species.
