A €35 million housing development in Ashford has been granted permission by An Bord Pleanala, despite local opposition and a recommendation from Wicklow County Council that the scheme should not be allowed to proceed.
The scheme consists of 99 houses and 18 duplexes at Ballinalea at Ashford.
the permission includes a condition banning any corporate bodies from purchasing the development and restricts the sale of the properties to individual purchasers.
Speaking to East Coast FM's Morning Show, local councillor John Snell says the main issue about the project is access to the new homes.
