Numbers High, But Percentage Of Cases Diagnosed In Ireland Drops

Yesterday saw the largest daily rise in the number of deaths here since the outbreak began

36 people died, bringing the total to 210.
345 new cases were also announced, with the total number now standing at 5,709.

However the number of new cases in Ireland represented a 6 per cent increase, which is the lowest daily per centage growth rate in the past month.

Health Minister Simon Harris is warning people not to drop their guard - or the curve will reverse.

Chief medical officer Tony Holohan says it's important people continue social distancing, particularly over the upcoming weekend.
