The National Public Health Emergency Team says it has no intention to recommend the easing of any level 5 restrictions earlier than planned.
The average number of daily cases is almost half what it was three weeks ago, while the 14 day incidence rate estimated to be 202 per 100 thousand people.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan said the full six weeks of level 5 restrictions will be necessary to sucessfully suppress the virus.
Non-essential retailers had hoped they would be allowed reopen earlier due to the progress that has been made to suppress the virus.
