No Change To Wicklow Property Tax For Next Year.

Councillors voted to maintain the Local Property Tax (LPT) charge for 2023 at the same level as 2022 at a meeting of Wicklow County Council

Councillors voted to maintain the Local Property Tax (LPT) charge for 2023 at the same level as 2022 at a meeting of Wicklow County Council.The decision means that householders in Wicklow will face no increase on their 2022 LPT payments while generating €1.1m in funding for the Council. 

This funding is ring-fenced for discretionary use by the Elected Members of the five Municipal Districts to support local projects in these areas including footpath repairs, public realm initiatives and supporting local community organisations.Bray Municipal District will receive €277,596 with the other four Districts Arklow, Baltinglass, Greystones and Wicklow each receiving €208,197.Local Property Tax is an important funding source for local authorities and contributes towards the cost of providing a range of local Council services including libraries, public lighting, road maintenance, housing services, fire services, community grant scheme, littering and tourism development initiatives.

Projects supported directly through the Discretionary Fund include among others:Benches at Arklow Harbour – Arklow MDBus shelters at Aughrim, Annacurragh (in progress) – Arklow MDDriver Feedback Signs various locations – Baltinglass MD Street Lighting various locations – Baltinglass MDFootpath repairs various locations – Bray MD Electric charger installation, Bog Meadow, Enniskerry (in progress) – Bray MD Footpath renewal Seaview, Kilcoole – Greystones MD Pedestrian route public lighting Pigs Hollow – Greystones MDMaritime artifacts at RNLI flower bed Whitegates, Wicklow – Wicklow MDContribution to Tidy Towns – Wicklow MD

The full €1.1m generated will remain entirely within the local district areas for allocation from their Discretionary Fund.
