New 12 Classroom School Building To Go To Construction In Kilcoole

Taoiseach Simon Harris has confirmed that a new 12 classroom school building has been approved to go to construction by the Department of Education in Kilcoole

The Taoiseach has also confirmed 4 class extensions to the existing St Anthonys Building have been approved.

The new build will be a “massive uplift and improvement” to the school’s capacity and to families across the area the Taoiseach has said

Taoiseach Simon Harris has worked closely with the Department of Education to ensure schools in Wicklow are supported in every aspect to cater for the increase of students and for children with additional needs

 Speaking today, Taoiseach Simon Harris said:

“Today I am thrilled to announce Kilcoole Primary School has had their new 12 classroom new build approved to go to construction.

“Alongside this construction there will be 4 class extensions to the existing St Anthonys Building.

“This development will be massive improvement on the current capacity and will no doubt be welcomed by parents of children in the school.

“As Taoiseach I have been working hard to deliver for families and for schools across the country.

“Our children need state of the art, upgraded and spacious school facilities.

“Wicklow has long dealt with school places shortages but I am determined to see an end to school shortages in the county.

“Announcements like today are a huge relief to hundreds of families in the area and show that this Government is taking action when it comes to education.  

“It is so important that all schools in County Wicklow are able to provide for all children and cater for each of their needs.

“As a TD for Wicklow I have always placed a priority on education and on school builds.

“Speaking to parents across the County that we have so much more to do for schools, it’s clear there is so much more to be done to improve our educational facilities and we are making significant progress in this area.  

“As a local TD I will continue to work with schools and principals to represent their needs in Government and provide for extra capacity to meet Wicklow’s growing population."
