Changes Considered For BusConnects Routes In North Wicklow

Wicklow TD John Brady has welcomed a meeting with the NTA, where he outlined key proposals to address concerns surrounding the rollout of Phase 6A of BusConnects in North Wicklow.

Following the discussions, Deputy Brady said he is “hopeful and optimistic” that the NTA will take on board some of the solutions he put forward to improve public transport services in the area.

Speaking after the meeting with the NTA Deputy Brady said:

“A major concern raised was the lack of a direct bus connection to the Luas. With the withdrawal of Finnegan’s bus services, the crucial link to Sandyford Luas was lost, creating significant difficulties for commuters.

To address this, I have put forward a proposal to extend the new L14 bus route, which currently runs from the Southern Cross in Bray to Raverty Villas in Palermo, further out to Cherrywood Luas, while ensuring that the frequency of the L14 service remains the same."

"The proposed extension would resolve a serious safety issue with the current L14 route.

At present, buses are terminating in a dangerous location at Raverty Villas in Palermo, right beside the busy junction at St. Peter’s School. Under my proposal, the terminus would be moved to Cherrywood, allowing buses to drop off passengers before continuing on their route.

This adjustment would eliminate the current safety hazard in front of St. Peter’s School and Raverty Villas, improving safety for local residents, parents, and schoolchildren while also enhancing transport links."

Deputy Brady confirmed that the NTA has responded positively to the proposals and has committed to further exploring them.
