Just 195 cost-rental apartments are available at the new development in south Dublin on the North Wicklow border.
It's the highest number of applications for any scheme of its type to date according to the Irish Times.
Applications for the homes at Shanganagh Castle in Shankill were open for just a week, with around half meeting the eligibility criteria.
Cost-rental homes are designed to assist people who do not qualify for social housing, but who cannot afford to rent at existing market rates.
It means eligible candidates can secure a new home at rents that are at least 25pc below market rates. The rents charged cover the cost of building, managing, and maintaining the homes and availability is as follows:
- 19 studio apartments available to rent at €1,175 per month.
- 40 one-beds available to rent at €1,250 per month.
- 107 two-beds available to rent at €1,575 per month.
- 29 three-beds to available rent at €1,775 per month.
Wicklow Taoiseach Simon Harris launched the new homes at the development in September, under huge pressure to deliver for buyers in Bray as much as those in south Dublin desperate to gain a foothold on the property ladder.
