Six Wicklow projects have been allocated a combined €241,783 under the 2024 CLÁR funding scheme.
Announced by Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, funding for Wicklow projects includes €50,000 for Annacurra GAA to carry out a car park accessibility upgrade and €24,588 for an energy upgrade to Knockananna Community Hall.
A total of €37,980 has been allocated to Ballinacor Mountain Walkers parking, which will involve tarmacking and associated works at the parking area at the beginning of the Ballinacor mountain walking route.Askanagap Community Hall has been allocated €50,000 for renovations, covering flooring, wiring, a projector and a sound system, with the Knockananna Amenity Area given €29,215 for the development of a green space within the existing amenity area.Finally, Ballymanus Community Field has been allocated €50,000 to provide an all-weather astroturf pitch.
The funding is being provided as part of Our Rural Future, the Government’s strategic five-year rural development plan, under the 2024 CLÁR (Ceantair Laga Árd-Riachtanais) programme.
The CLÁR programme provides funding for small-scale projects in rural areas that have experienced significant levels of population decline.
