The forthcoming local area plan must include a dedicated section An Economic Vision 2024-2050, articulating a visionary economic roadmap spanning 2024 to 2050”.Arklow’s industrial and maritime heritage, dating back to its role in trade and shipbuilding, lays a robust foundation for its economic evolution. From the copper trade to the establishment of chemical works and pottery, Arklow has adapted to changing economic landscapes.”Presently, Arklow’s diverse industrial landscape, encompassing sectors from Pharmaceuticals to Manufacturing, has seen significant growth from companies like LMH Engineering, Arklow Shipping, and NUA Manufacturing and others.The renewable energy sector, led by SSE Renewables’ Arklow Bank Wind Park 2 generating up to 800mw of Renewable energy which will accelerate our national climate action ambitions. Echelon Data Centres, infrastructure developer providing large-scale assets to support the growing global demand for data and computing resources – sustainably, responsibly and with due regard for the environment, are setting new industry standards.The cumulative investments from these industries are projected to inject over €8 billion into the local economy. with over 2,000 construction jobs during the development phase and on completion it is estimated that over1,000 permanent positions will be created, offering long-term employment opportunities.
