The calculated grades system used in the Leaving Cert for the last two years has damaged the education system as a whole, according to the Irish SME Association.ISME's calling for a reform to the Leaving Cert, claiming the calculated grades demonstrated a failure of 'adopting an ad-hoc approach to continuous assessment'.Grade inflation was evident in 2021, after students were given a choice of sitting the exam, taking a calculated grade, or both.
