Immunologist Says Ireland On Track To Exit Lockdown As Scheduled

An immunologist believes we are on track to come out of lockdown as scheduled in December.

Kingston Mills, Professor of experimental immunology at Trinity College Dublin says we’re on track to exit lockdown by December.

He said: "It's great, we're actually doing better than most countries in Europe now, I think there's only five countries better than us in terms of cases per hundred thousand."

The National Public Health Emergency Team is meeting today to discuss the impact of Level 5 restrictions which are entering their third week.

The reproduction rate of Covid 19 has fallen below one, but the Taoiseach has told his party, restrictions are unlikely to be lifted until the full six weeks are up.
