Huge Number Of Drivers On Our Roads Operating With Learner Permit For More Than 15 Years

More than 1,400 people have been driving with only a learner permit for at least 25 years.

According to freedom of information figures, they include 328 people in Dublin and 174 in Cork.
Nearly 10,000 motorists have been driving with only a learner permit for over 15 years.

You can’t apply for a third or subsequent learner permit unless you’ve recently done a driving test or have an upcoming test.

It eaises questions about how these drivers are able to tax and insure their vehicles.
