HSE Won't Invest In Any Extra Acute Beds In Hospitals This Winter

Much of its 26 million euro plan for the season will be spent on home care packages and moving people out of hospitals.

The health service is facing another busy winter with concerns about the level of overcrowding.

679 people were waiting on trolleys on one day last week, the highest this year.

Much of this 26 million euro plan will be spent on home care packages and moving people out of hospitals so they can get community supports.

But there won't be any new acute beds made available.

Another big focus is stopping people getting the flu.

84 people died after getting it last winter.

The HSE is advising those most at risk to get the flu vaccine.
