Grants worth up to 10,000 euro are being made available to purchase public defibrillators for housing estates in the Bray area.Local First Responder Groups and the HSE are to be consulted to ensure they are placed in the most suitable locations.
During the 2024 discretionary budget meeting, Cllr. Rory O’Connor proposed the creation of a new Defibrillator Grant for the Bray municipal area, allocating €10,000 for this initiative.The grant aims to cover the cost of purchasing defibrillators for estates. Estate Resident Committees or residents wishing to participate in the scheme must complete the Expression of Interest form, obtainable by contacting roconnor@wicklowcoco.ie.The Bray Municipal District plans to consult local First Responder Groups and the HSE to ensure the defibrillators are placed in the most suitable locations. The decision on awarding grant support for defibrillator purchases rests with the Bray Municipal District.Councillor Rory O’Connor stated “This grant is just the start in my opinion and if successful. I believe as a council we should be looking at ensuring that every estate in the Bray has access to a defibrillator. Overall, I believe this new grant will ensure an increased level of peace of mind within residents’ estates and increased level of safety”Expressions of interest forms must be completed and sent to the Bray Municipal District by February 7th.
