Gardai Appeal For Witnesses In Cold Case Disappearance.

Gardaí are renewing their appeal for witnesses in relation to the disappearance and murder of Antoinette Smith 37 years on.

Gardaí are renewing their appeal for witnesses in relation to the disappearance and murder of Antoinette Smith 37 years on.Bray Garda Station are investigating the murder of 27-year-old Antoinette, whose remains were discovered at Glendoo Mountain, near the Lemass monument and close to Glencree and Enniskerry on April 3, 1988.

Antoinette was a mother of two young daughters – Lisa, who was only 7 at the time of their mother's disappearance, and Rachel, who was 4.On Saturday, July 11, 1987, Antoinette and her friend attended the David Bowie concert in Slane, Co Meath.They returned to Dublin by bus, arrived at Parnell Square around 11pm, and later went to the La Mirage Discoteque on Parnell Street, meeting two men they knew.After joining the men's company, they remained with them until they all left shortly after 2am.

Detective Inspector Seamus Ryan at Bray Garda station said the investigating team believes there are people out there who have information about Antoinette's murder."We are appealing to them to come forward and speak with us about any detail that they may know," he said."No matter the passage of time or how insignificant they might think that it is, it could potentially help us in our work to solve this case."Antoinette’s two daughters, Lisa and Rachel deserve to see justice for those responsible for taking their mother from them at such a young age,” he added.Gardaí are appealing for help and information to those who may have information since 1987 or who have come into possession of information over 37 years as gardaí assure they will treat anyone assisting them in a sensitive manner.They are urging the members of the public, who would like to come forward 37 years later as their relationships or associations might have changed over the years.
