The HSE and St John of God Community Services have reached a funding agreement.
It means services provided by the organisation in Bray and Arklow will not transfer to the HSE.
The move follows intensive discussions which resulted in a commitment to 'in year' funding for 2024.
There will also be a guaranteed timeframe on dealing with issues arising from an historical deficit.
8,000 children and adults will continue receiving intellectual disability and mental health services.
