
The review aims to identify possible solutions to reopen the amenity, which could be implemented in the short to medium term.
Wicklow County Council has two tenders out for the Cliff Walk: one for rockfall stabilisation works worth €500,000, and the second worth €80,000 for the engineering report.
The invitation for tenders was issued last December with the closing date for receipt of tenders on the 7th of February.
In a statement, Chair of the Cliffwalk Committee Councillor Erika Doyle said the evaluation process is now complete and letters of notification have been issued.
"I'm delighted to see this progress update from the team as we step closer to the appointment of a contractor for the necessary engineering consultancy services,” she said.
"It has been the number one item on people's agenda for Bray for a number of years now and understandably so. We always knew this would not be a quick fix, and some of the issues at the Greystones end differ from the Bray end.
"There is still some journey to travel. However the proper processes must be adhered to. We have seen at a national level how the public view opaque procedure and we want to ensure that these vital works are procured correctly.
“The reopening of the Cliff Walk has been a priority for not only this committee but all the elected members since its closure. As a regular walker of the route I want nothing more than to enjoy the stunning views of from our coastal walk again. We are committed to working towards this goal and keeping the public in the loop on the project as it progresses," she concluded.
