Reports at the weekend say the former chairman of Anglo Irish Bank Seán FitzPatrick and his wife, have secured planning permission to build a four-bedroom house beside his existing home in Greystones, which will be constructed on the site of a fire-damaged property.
Several neighbours had lodged objections to the plans and the county council refused permission last July over concerns that neighbours could be overlooked from first-floor terraces of the proposed new build. The council said the new property "would be contrary to the amenities" of those neighbouring properties.
However According to the Sunday Times, in overturning the county council’s decision, An Bord Pleanala said, while the proposed house is in a conservation area, it would not “seriously injure the amenities of the area” or other nearby properties.
