
Over €3.5 million in funding has been allocated from Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) for the maintenance and enhancement of Wicklow's national road infrastructure in 2025.
The funding includes:
- €3.23 million in capital investment, which will support:
- Minor works and safety upgrades along national secondary routes
- Pavement rehabilitation and resurfacing works
- Critical route lighting improvements
- Engineering support to ensure project delivery standards
- An additional €280,239 for ongoing maintenance, which will help ensure that national primary and secondary roads remain in good condition year-round, including winter maintenance and lighting.

Total Allocation: €3,510,039
1. Capital Investment – Protection & Renewal (€3,229,800)
- Both National Primary & Secondary Roads:
- €300,000 – HD15 & HD17 Minor Works (e.g. fencing retrofits, safety enhancements)
- €249,300 – Local Authority Engineering Support (Improvement works support – B.1.1a)
- National Secondary Roads:
- €1,450,000 – Minor Works (e.g. safety schemes, junction upgrades, realignments)
- €830,500 – Pavement Renewals (HD28 resurfacing and road rehabilitation)
- €400,000 – Route Lighting Improvements (upgrades to lighting infrastructure)
2. Current Maintenance – Protection & Renewal (€280,239)
- Both National Primary & Secondary:
- €32,800 – Local Authority Support (General & Winter Maintenance – B.1.2)
- National Primary Roads:
- €115,941 – Ordinary maintenance, winter service, and route lighting
- National Secondary Roads:
- €131,498 – Ordinary maintenance, winter service, and route lighting
In a statement Tánaiste Simon Harris said the funding will directly support the safety, and long-term sustainability of our national roads, benefiting both residents and businesses.
