Former US police officer Derek Chauvin is due to be sentenced today for the murder of George Floyd.
He was found guilty of the murder of the unarmed black man after he knelt on his neck during his arrest in May of last year. The killing sparked global protests against police brutality and racism.
Prosecutors are calling for a 30 year sentence while Derek Chauvin's defence team is requesting probation or a shorter prison term, citing his lack of criminal history.
