Tánaiste Simon Harris has set Thursday, 13th February for the inaugural meeting of the Bray to Greystones Cliff Walk Taskforce.
The Taskforce, chaired by Tánaiste Harris, will convene at Government Buildings and include key stakeholders and agencies such as Wicklow County Council, Fáilte Ireland, Irish Rail, and others.
Speaking today Tánaiste Simon Harris said:
“I have written to a range of agencies and stakeholders this week to convene the first meeting of the Bray to Greystones Cliff Walk Taskforce which will take place in Government Buildings.
“There is an urgent need to see the re-opening of the iconic Cliff Walk which is a crucial local resource.
“I have heard the concerns and frustrations from local residents and local businesses in the area regarding its prolonged closure. Put simply, any further delay to the re-opening is unacceptable.
“This taskforce will aim to drive forward the swift re-opening of the cliff walk so we can regain this resource which attracts many visitors to Bray and Greystones and helps sustain the towns economies.
“Over the past few weeks I have engaged directly with local stakeholders and look forward to putting all measures forward to see this issue finally resolved once and for all.
“As the chair of the first meeting of the taskforce I will be asking all relevant agencies and stakeholders to work together to prevent any further setbacks in the reopening process.
“I am also keenly aware that as the days get warmer and brighter the need for this Cliff Walk to be operational will become ever more crucial for residents and businesses.
Tánaiste Simon Harris concluded:
“I stand ready to do all I can as a TD for Wicklow to drive this reopening.
“I want to thank all who have worked with me so far on this issue especially Cllr Louise Fenelon Gaskin in Greystones and Cllr Aoife Flynn Kennedy in Bray.”
