Wicklow Minister Simon Harris has written to Chief Executive of Wicklow County Council Emer O’Gorman to highlight the urgent need for a solution to safely reopen the Bray to Greystones Cliff Walk as soon as possible.
Speaking today Minister Harris said: “I have written to Wicklow County Council urging them to find a solution to open the Bray to Greystones Cliff Walk.
“This walk is of huge importance to businesses and the wider community.
“The walk sees an increased footfall of tourists and local residents which helps the community and businesses grow more prosperous and resilient.
“This walking route is also of vital importance to local wellbeing. I know many people from the area love the walk and the stunning views.
“In my letter to Wicklow County Council I stressed the need for a sense of urgency in terms of a plan to safely facilitate the reopening and also ensure the maintenance and sustainability of the walk going forward.”
Minister Harris added: “I have spoken to many business owners over the past week who have stressed the importance of the cliff walk. A solution must be identified now.
“This is a key tourist attraction and there is a real economic impact to businesses across the area. This impact will only grow as the days get longer and the winter weather fades away.
Minister Harris concluded: “As a local TD and a Government Minister I will continue to work with Louise and the local community, urging Wicklow County Council to open the cliff walk as soon as it’s safe to do so.”
