The Minister for Education has been criticised for the lack of clarity surrounding the future of a school building in the Charlesland area.
The new premises are due to provide interim accommodation for Greystones Community College, currently located in prefabs at the local tennis club.
The site will also provide permanent facilities for the newly established Greystones Community National School.
However the Department of Education previously informed the KWETB that they need to ensure the building is fully fit for handover, prior to accepting it.
Speaking in the Dail, Green Party TD Stephen Mathews said the current situation is unacceptable, while Social Democrat TD Jennifer Whitmore said the lack of action is having a serious impact on the school community.
The county council issued a certificate of compliance for the building on the 2nd of July, however the Department of Education notified the company on the 29th of July, that a test carried out by an independent body, had found part of a safety system had failed to meet required standards to allow the premises to be handed over.
Rory Kinane, principal of Greystones Community National School, says they want to know the reason for the delay.
