Rents have increased by 7 percent around the country in the last 12 months.
A new report from the Residential Tenancies Board shows the national average is now 1,202 euro a month, while in Dublin it's 1,713 euro.
Macroom has also been added to the growing list of rent pressure zones.
Landlords in rent pressure zones are restricted from increasing rents by more than 4 percent a year.
