The expected new development is expected to cater for 25 classes, over 2 floors.
The Department of Education has purchased a 5.2 acre site for St. Catherine's Special School in Kilcoole.
Councillor for Greystones Stephen Stokes said:
"This is a positive development for the school and the area. I would like to congratulate all of the school staff for their hard work and continued dedication."
The expected new development is expected to cater for 25 classes, over 2 floors. In addition there will be a number of purpose built facilities including play areas. Cllr Stokes added:
"From a practical point of view there will be cars and transport vehicles coming to and from St. Catherine's. Kilcoole needs decisive investment in roads and footpaths. The construction of this new school facility will underscore the importance of improvements. I will continue to campaign for road and pedestrian safety enhancements across Kilcoole, Charlesland, Delgany, Greystones, Killadreenan and Newcastle."
