135 Families In Wicklow To Receive The Newborn Baby Grant This Week

A total figure of 4,400 families in Ireland are due to receive this grant.

“A total of 135 families for 136 children will receive the payment in Wicklow which will make a significant difference to the parents and the cost of raising a newborn.

Speaking today Tánaiste and Wicklow TD Simon Harris said:

“Families of newborns this week can expect to receive a new payment under the new newborn baby grants this week.

“The beginning of a newborn’s life is often a stressful time for parents and can be financially costly.

“These payments will help put money back into families’ pockets.

“As Tánaiste and as a TD for Wicklow I am determined to see government step in to help families with raising children from the moment they are born right through their educational journey.

Over 4,400 families will receive the grant for 4,522 children in the country, with 135  families for 136 children to receive the grant in Wicklow.

The measure announced on budget day sees the families of all babies born after December 1st last year, receive a one-off grant of 280 euro.

From March, eligible parents will receive the Newborn Baby Grant in addition to the first month’s Child Benefit payment.

In a full year it is expected that Newborn Baby Grants will be paid in respect of 54,000 children at a cost of €15 million.
