Progress is being made to address the recent issues with school transport provision across Wicklow.
It's been confirmed that progress is being made to address the recent issues with school transport provision across Wicklow.
In recent weeks, a number of school transport routes were left unserviced causing huge frustration among parents across Wicklow. A number of these routes are now back in operation.
Speaking today, Minister Simon Harris said, “I have been in touch with a huge number of parents and families who have been affected by the recent issues surrounding school transport across County Wicklow. Today I am glad to be able to confirm that after closely pursuing this issue with Bus Eireann, ten of the previously effected routes are now back up and running.”
“I am very aware of the difficulties parents and families have been encountering and I am delighted to see that we are making progress in restoring each of the affected school bus routes.”
“I have been advised by Bus Eireann that we can expect to see more and more of these routes brought back into operation in the near future.”
“The importance of education for our children and young people cannot be overstated, and I do not want to see anyone missing out on their education due to transport issues.”
“There are still some bus routes that are yet to be restored, and I will continue to work with Bus Eireann to ensure that these routes are re-established as soon as possible.” Minister Harris concluded.
